چکیده
• Recovery of platinum and palladium from spent auto-catalysts by hydrometallurgy. Best conditions for leaching: 11.6 mol L ?1 HCl, 1%vol H 2 O , 60 °C, L/S = kg 3 h. solvent extraction systems Pd Pt: Cyanex® 471X Cyphos® IL 101. Efficient stripping agents Pt 101 need further research. To ensure the supply raw materials products extreme importance in strategic sectors, recovery critical metals secondary sources becomes increasingly urgent. Platinum group (PGMs), being rare very valuable, fall into this demand, catalytic converters that contain them are recognized as one main sources. Hydrometallurgical processes have been proposed an alternative to pyrometallurgical ones, with leaching separation core operations type processing. This article investigates these two operations, seeking optimize propose new arrangements improve them. Two different catalyst samples were considered experimental work. Leaching was carried out involving concentrated HCl solutions (with oxidant) low liquid/solid ratios, maximize PGMs recovery, guaranteeing their high concentration leachates minimizing aluminum co-dissolution. Cerium also followed since is a rare-earth metal potential interest. Temperature, concentration, ratio (L/S), time particle size factors evaluated, optimized found h, leading PGM yields 90–98% Pt, 99% 70–96% Rh, leachate compositions 0.41–0.78 g 1.6 Pd, 0.062–0.066 depending on sample. For (SX), several commercial extractants dissolved/diluted toluene checked, firstly model solution, then applied real auto-catalyst (SAC) produced in-situ . The overall results showed most promising SX among those tested allowed quantitative Pd(II) Fe(III), but latter conveniently scrubbed water prior acidic thiourea solution. Pt(IV) values encouraging, only Fe(III) Zn(II) appreciably co-extracted, however, scrubbing contaminating metals, stripping, did not Hence, investigation find proper scrubbing/stripping system, recover recycled SACs, needed.

Studies on Platinum Recovery from Solutions after Leaching of Spent Catalysts by Solvent Extraction
The results of studies on the separation of platinum(IV) ions by solvent extraction from aqueous solutions after leaching of spent catalysts have been reviewed. The following processes have been discussed: acid leaching of spent catalysts and solvent extraction of platinum(IV) ions by using organophosphorous acids, amines and oximes as the extractants. In hydrometallurgical leaching of spent au...
متن کاملrecovery of nickel from spent catalysts by hydrometallurgical method
there are no appreciable amounts of nickel resources in iran; therefore, secondary resources of this element are to be more considered in future. spent nickel catalysts that are used in various industrial processes are one of them. for example nickel catalyst that is used in hydrogenation of edible oil have large amounts of nickel and they are generally supported on porous materials like silica...
متن کاملSeparation and Recovery of Platinum and Palladium from Spent Petrochemical Catalysts Using Activated Carbon, Analysis of Two Kind of Most Used Catalysts in Petro Chemistry
The goal of this work is the separation and recovery of platinum and palladium from spent catalyst. The recovery consisted of separating the maximum amount of platinum and palladium from catalysts and changing them into usable forms. The petroleum and petrochemical units use Pt and Pd catalyst for reactions such as reforming and hydrogenation. Because these materials contain valuable metals...
متن کاملHydrometallurgical Recovery of Nano-Palladium from Spent Catalyst
Hydrometallurgical recovery of nano-palladium (Pd) from spent Pd/Al2O3 catalyst has been investigated. The Pd content in the spent catalyst sample was assayed to be 0.42% while the remainder was mainly aluminum oxide. Mixture of HCl and AlCl3 was studied as leaching agent for the sample. The Pd was deposited with formic acid. Different parameters affecting leaching and deposition processes such...

Cobalt sulfate was recovered from crushed and screened prismatic type spent lithium ion batteries (LIBs) containing 5~20 % Co, 5~7 % Li, 5~10 % Ni, 15% organic chemicals, and 7% plastics together with Cu, Al, Fe, and Mn. Cobalt was reductively leached from the -16 mesh fraction in 1 h by stirring with 2 M H2SO4 and 6 vol% H2O2, at 60 C and 300 rpm using a solid/liquid ratio of 100 g/L to give a...
